Crystal Palace troll Newcastle Jets as new kit has striking similarities with Eagles’ strip

There is something distinctly familiar about Australian side Newcastle Jets’ new kit.

The A-League outfit tweeted a picture of their new strip that will be debuted on Tuesday.

Newcastle Jets’ new kit

You would be forgiven for doing a double take and think you may have seen the shirts somewhere before.

Both the home and away strip has a striking resemblance to Crystal Palace’s current kit.

The club’s Twitter account posted a tweet asking what their third team shirt looked like.

The official Palace club shop account even poked fun at the similarities between the two.

Some kit manufacturers have been guilty of lacking imagination in recent seasons with designs for clubs with the same brands looking fairly similar.

The Newcastle Jets shirts, though, are made by Australian sports kit manufacturer Viva whereas Puma produce the Premier League club’s version.

The similarities have not escaped the notice of some eagled-eyed Twitter users who have been commenting under Newcastle Jets’ tweet.

One said: “When you let your friend copy your homework.”

Another said: “Looks like a discount Crystal Palace.”

The Australian side have a history of producing unusual kits as their 2015 version featured fighter planes on it.

There was method to the madness that time, though, as the kit was worn for the Jets’ clash with Brisbane Roar, and was used to acknowledge the contributions the Air Force make within the area.
